How Aussie Moving Handles the Coronavirus Pandemic

AUSSIE MOVING AND COVID-19

These are challenging times for us all. In order to best address the needs of our clients, Aussie Moving has modified our process to honor CDC health and safety guidelines while still providing you with a quick and convenient move. Aussie Moving puts the safety of our customers and team first. We have implemented new measures such as virtual estimates, no-contact packing and moving services, and special customer guidelines to ensure a safe move for everyone involved. We will continue to follow these best practices through the duration of the pandemic, and we deeply appreciate your working with us to keep our family of customers and team members healthy.

What is Aussie Moving doing to stop the spread?

We are following all guidelines put in place by the federal and local governments, the Center for Disease Control, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. For the protection of our customers and employees:

  • All contact surfaces are disinfected inside and outside before and after every use. We specifically target high contact sites such as door handles, steering wheels, dashboards, and seatbelts.
  • All dollies, packing blankets, straps, and other tools are sanitized before and after every job.
  • All employees are required to sanitize their hands before and after entering buildings and moving vehicles.
  • Every truck is equipped with a cleaning kit, which includes: gloves, antibacterial hand wash, hand sanitizer, paper towels and anti-bacterial cleaning products.
  • We require team members to wear face coverings and gloves.
  • The estimate process has been made virtual so we can assess your moving needs while maintaining appropriate social distancing measures.
  • Team members and customers will be asked to abide by the recommended 6 ft social distancing protocol.
  • We are providing no-contact moving and packing:
    • We communicate with you via phone to confirm the details of the job
    • You leave the premises unoccupied for at least 24 hours
    • Our team arrives and completes the move; any questions are resolved via phone or video call
    • You wait an additional 24 hours or more before entering your new location.
  • Employees with any symptoms of illness are required to stay home. All employees are temperature-checked before each move.
Aussie Moving

What can you do to prepare for your upcoming move?

In addition to the precautions that Aussie Moving is taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19, there are also measures you can take to prepare for a safe move:

  • Finish packing at least 24 hours before the movers arrive. Coronavirus survives on surfaces much longer than you might imagine, including up to 24 hours on cardboard boxes. Though movers will be wearing gloves and face coverings, you should have your boxes packed and sitting untouched at least a day before your move.
  • Disinfect your high-contact surfaces, such as door knobs,  prior to our arrival.
  • Assign a sink to the moving and packing team so that they can set up their hand washing station (you supply the sink, we supply the antibacterial soap and other disinfectant supplies).
  • Wear gloves and face coverings for the duration of your contact with the moving team, or request a no-contact move — recommended for high-risk customers, such as those over 65 years of age.
  • Keep doors and windows open during the move to allow for additional air circulation.
  • Postpone your move if you or members of your household are sick or have shown symptoms.
  • After your move is complete, if you are unpacking yourself, we recommend waiting 24 hours before opening or touching boxes.

If you are planning to travel within 14 days before your move, please let us know. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with information about areas where infection rates are high. If you will be in one of these places less than two weeks before your move, we request that you inform our team of the increased risk. If it is not possible to delay the move until two weeks after your travel, we will work with you to arrange a no-contact move.

Special Considerations During the Pandemic

Aussie Moving is committed to responding flexibly to this challenging situation and we appreciate your cooperation. Our teams will be wearing facial coverings and observing social distancing guidelines while on site, and we ask you to do the same. We screen our teams carefully for symptoms and encourage them to leave any situation where a customer appears to be sick. If you are feeling under the weather, please communicate with us to reschedule your move. If rescheduling is not a possibility, have someone else represent you on moving day. If you hear a cough or have any doubts about any member of our team, please speak up immediately and we will take action. Our clients’ and teams’ safety is our top priority and this is no time to hold back out of politeness!

If you consider yourself to be at elevated risk for Covid-19 due to your age or preexisting health conditions, let us know right away. We will arrange a 100% no-contact move to ensure your absolute safety.

If you have reason to believe you have been exposed to the virus, we will delay or cancel your move at no extra charge. We are grateful to you for working with us to help keep our community safe.
